AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Language

This journal accepts manuscripts written in the British English language. To ensure that published papers are free from grammatical and spelling errors, authors for whom English is not their first language are advised to seek proofreading assistance from an English language expert before submitting their manuscripts. Significant grammatical and spelling errors may result in the rejection of a submitted manuscript.

Ethics

EJSS is committed to adhering to ethical standards at all stages involved in publishing articles. The journal does not accept any unethical practices in research and publishing from authors and reviewers. Authors are not allowed to submit papers that have been published or are under consideration (at any stage) for publication in other journals.

Authorship

All authors whose scientific or/and professional contributions have been included in a manuscript must be listed based on their contributions starting with the principal author. In case a manuscript is an output of a thesis, dissertation, term paper or any student’s academic work, a student must be the principal author.

Formatting style

All manuscripts must be prepared using the APA Style Guide (7th Edition) and submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Manuscripts should be formatted in 11-point Arial font, single-spaced. The main text of the manuscript should not exceed 25 pages, and all pages must be numbered sequentially. Margins of 1 inch must be applied on all four sides of the document.

Manuscripts Sections

The manuscript must contain the following sections:

Title Page

  • The title must be concise and informative.
  • The title should be formatted in a 14-point font size.
  • The title page must include the full names of all authors, their contact information, and their respective institutional affiliations (these details should be in a 10-point font size).
  • A corresponding author must be clearly identified.

Abstract

The abstract should consist of 150 to 250 words and briefly describe the purpose of the study, theoretical framework (if applicable), methods, key findings, and conclusion. It should include 4 to 6 keywords that reflect the themes of the study and are drawn from the title and main text.

Main text

The main text must be structured into the following sections:

  • Introduction
  • Theoretical & Empirical Review/Hypothesis development
  • Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion and recommendations
  • Author contributions
  • Acknowledgements (if any)
  • Conflict of interest
  • Data availability statement (You can access sample statements here)
  • References

Numbering subsections of manuscripts

Manuscripts must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered hierarchically as follows: 1, 2, (then 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2), 1.2, etc. Each section and subsection must be left-aligned and formatted in bold.

  • Section titles must be written in UPPERCASE.
  • Subsection titles must use Title Case Capitalization (capitalizing the first letter of each major word) and be italicized.

Referencing style

All references should follow  the APA 7th Edition Guide.
